Hypoglycemia
Posted on May 22nd, 2009 2 commentsJoan called and made an appointment for help in determining her accurate medical diagnosis. Over the phone she said that she suffered from fatigue especially in the mid-morning and mid afternoon. This was associated with “foggy thinking”and generalized body weakness. Her medical doctors said she appeared to be in perfect health in spite of her complaints. Their final diagnosis was depression. She was immediately put on antidepressants at which point her symptoms became worse.
The day of her appointment with a new physician she had called…the nurse walked in to the office t0 find her slumped over almost to the floor. All she could utter was a feeble “help.” On a hunch the nurse quickly got her a glass of orange juice and a piece of candy.Almost immediately like a wilted flower needing water she sat up and said she felt alright.. the Doctor after studying her old records and examining her felt that Joan did not suffer from depression but from hypoglycemia.{hypo stands for less than, gly stands for sugar and emia stands for blood) Therefore the orange juice and candy which are very quickly absorbed gave the bloodstream the necessary glucose to raise her blood sugar. Needless to say that like most folks Joan”s breakfast consisted of cereal, sugar , small amount of milk and coffee with cream and sugar. All of these foods are simple compared to complex carbohydrates such as vegetables and legumes. Simple carbohydrates are very quickly digested , rapidly entering the bloodstream and stimulating the pancreas to shoot out a hefty supply of insulin. Actually only a small amount of these insulin carriers were needed to do the job. Like unemployed workers the majority of insulin roams through the bloodstream stimulating glands that triggered weakness, fatigue etc.
Six small high protein {meat, fish, eggs, poultry, dairy and soy} meals a day solved Joan’s problem. One of the most significant changes she made was learning how to turn a carbohydrate food into a protein. {ex’ adding 1 or 2 Tbs. of fat free powdered milk to her cereal{such as oatmeal} or simply mixing it with the milk being used in her cereal} The recipe for Right Way New Cheese was a first rate addition to her diet. It not only gave endless opportunities for making high protein snacks but helped her to lose 5 pounds of weight in two weeks………Doctors can give healthy advice on a variety of subjects!
to
to revive her.

Right Way New Cheese
Posted on May 19th, 2009 1 commentDrain excess water from an 8 ounce container of fat free or non fat yogurt.
Empty the contents into a cheesecloth bag or coffee filter. Place the bag or filter intyo a colander. Let the mixture sit for eight hours(unrefrigerated). After draining is complete , empty the contents into a bowl and refrigerate’
Here we have an incredible high protein low fat hunk of clay and you are the potter. There are endless possibilities.
For a vegetable dip add a little fat free salad dressing and seasonings such as dill, chives garlic etc.
For a sweet spread add brwn sugar, cinnamon , fruit preserves, maple syrup etc.
Delicious on bagels, toast crackers or just for dipping veggies, chips, etc.
